Paint Polishing Process
-
Prior to any machine work we will deep clean and decontaminate the exterior of your paint to get it as smooth and clean as possible so we’re not rubbing dirt around the surface with our pads.
The prep process involves:
Detailing your engine bay compartment(if applicable)
Deep cleaning your wheels, tires, fender wells and plastics.
Washing and cleaning of the vehicle’s paint, cracks and crevices, plastics and grills. Stripping the vehicle of any previous waxes or sealants.
Using an iron remover spray to loosen up metal, rust and iron contamination embedded into the pores of your paint so we can spray off
Following up with a clay bar to remove any remaining decontamination
Lastly, use a panel prep spray to remove any oils or residue from the prep stage before polishing.
-
Paint Polishing procedure:
Once the vehicle is all dry, water out the cracks, we will tape up any sensitive areas such as plastics and rubber to keep clean during polishing.
Using 5 inch, 3 inch and 1 inch machines we will go over the whole vehicle and polish the painted surfaces to remove light swirls, defects from the paint.
End result being a shinier, newer looking vehicle than when you brought it in!
-
After polishing your vehicle to a high gloss we will protect the paint with a 6 month sealant for uv protection on top of your freshly polished paint and condition your plastics.
If you're interested in a longer form of protection for your vehicle after a polishing session you can upgrade to one of our ceramic coating packages! So your car looks new after every wash and can be protected for years, not just months!
FAQs About Paint Polishing
-
Unfortunately, with paint and clear coat being very thin and brittle, if you are starting to get peeling, chipping or cracking that might be a problem out of our reach. Might have to give your local body shop a call. We know a great body shop as well if you need a referral.
-
This depends on how you take care of the vehicle afterwards! Clear coat tends to be a bit soft. With all things you want to last, we recommend getting on a regular maintenance plan to ensure your vehicle is getting washed with the proper methods and products to keep your vehicle looking great in the long run!
One stop at the automatic car wash can swirl up your vehicle all over again!

With polishing being the action of using pads and polishes to lightly heat up and even the clear coat, we recommend getting this service done a max of 3 times. This is why we recommend a ceramic coating as it will form a flexible glass layer over your clear coat that will take the beating of the sun and exterior decontamination and even gentle swirling.

With a polish we will go around the vehicle once to enhance the look and remove light swirls and scratches. A polish has lighter abrasives and is focused on bringing back the shine and clarity. Great for new vehicles or vehicles with light swirls and defects.
Our two step correction involves going around the car twice. We “buff” the paint once with a heavier compound for deeper swirls and scratches and follow it up with a finishing polish to bump gloss and clarity. This “shaves” down the clear coat a little bit more. Great for older vehicles, or vehicles with heavier swirls and cloudy paint.
